Scammer Alert: Lois Chun's 13-Year Fraud Network

K-pop, Restaurant & Pickleball Scams (2011-2024)

WARNING: Lois Chun (also known as Sung, Hulky Park, Claire Lee, Seung Ae Chun, and Hodoo Jeon) has a long documented history of scamming individuals and families through fake business ventures from 2011-2024.

Who is Lois Chun?

Lois Chun (also known as Sung, Hulky Park, Claire Lee, Seung Ae Chun, and Hodoo Jeon) has a long documented history of scamming individuals and families through fake business ventures. Her most well-known scam was founding Hallyu Idol Training Services New York (HitsNY), a K-pop training program in Manhattan in 2011-2012 that collected thousands of dollars from parents before going dark. She is currently reported to be operating in South Carolina with various accomplices.

Pattern of Behavior

Chun has demonstrated a consistent pattern of fraudulent activity across multiple ventures:

  • Charging families $5,000-$40,000 for programs that never materialize
  • Promising fake scholarships and opportunities to meet K-pop celebrities
  • Failing to pay staff and contractors, including dancers, vocal coaches, and marketing workers
  • Writing bounced checks to business partners and service providers
  • Using high-pressure sales tactics and claiming false urgency ("almost booked")
  • Requesting payment only in cash or bank checks to avoid paper trails
  • Vanishing after being exposed, only to reappear later under different aliases

Documented History: The HITSNY Scam

As reported by ABC7NY | Sunday, October 21, 2012 | NEW YORK

The most well-documented of Chun's scams was the HitsNY K-pop training program. Single mother Bonnie Blake withdrew $5,000 from her daughter Kelly's college savings to pay for the program after Chun used high-pressure tactics, claiming the program was "almost booked" and they had to "sign up right away."

Just two days before the camp was scheduled to begin, it was abruptly canceled. Despite contractual guarantees of refunds within 14 days, families received little to no money back. When questioned by ABC7, Chun claimed the tuition was used for "deposits" that couldn't be recovered.

Legal Troubles and Ongoing Concerns

In 2018, Chun appeared in federal court (Case: Chun v. Sushi Maru Express, docket #2:17-cv-06411-JMV-MF), where she accused others of defamation. Her claims were dismissed for lack of evidence and poor pleading, further damaging her credibility.

Protecting Yourself and Others
